Jose Patrocinio Abundiz

Jose Patronclnlo Abundiz Ill, born August 27, 1945, in Harlingen, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, at his home in San Jose, California, surrounded by loved ones. The second of ten children of Jose Patronclnlo II ("Tito") and Aurora Abundiz, Jose grew up adventurous, spirited, and full of llfe - qualities that defined him throughout his 80 years.

 He attended Sunol Elementary, Hester, Hoover Jr. High, and Abraham Lincoln High School, where he earned the "Mr. Football" award. A dedicated worker, Jose held many jobs, including hauling cars, building cabinets, working in the fields, and serving at the San Jose Water Company, Western Forge and Flange, The Foundry, and later the school district as an electrician. He also fulfilled his dream of entrepreneurship, creating Joe's Trash Hauling in the 1960s and Appliance Depot in the 1970s. 

Known for his generosity and resourcefulness, Jose welcomed anyone in need of a meal, a shower, or a place to rest. He loved music, movies, camping, fishing, good food, and the simple joys of everyday life. Above all, he was loyal, emotional, strong-willed, and deeply devoted to his family. 

Jose is sur.vived by his children - Jose IV, Doreen, Darlene, Arnold, and Christopher - along with thirteen grandchildren, nine
great-grandchildren, and his siblings Richard, Mary Allee (Mona), Ray, Ramiro, Lupe, Elena, and Esther. He was preceded in death by his father Jose, siblings Manuel and Christina, his nephew Ray, aa,d his grandson Little Jose (Jose Patronclnlo Abundiz V).

His life was full and his memory will continue on in all who loved him. May he rest in peace.
