In loving memory of a wonderful father who brought joy and inspiration to all of us. A man of honor and resilience. Lucio Belmares Alvarez was born on June 25, 1936, in Conception de la Purisima San Luis Potosi Mexico to parents Cosme and Remedios Alvarez. He lived to be 8 years of age before passing away on April 17, 2026, in Santa Clara California.Lucio was eight years old when he immigrated to the United States where he lived in Harlingen,Texas and learned English. In 1957 he came to Alviso California where he resided there until his passing. While in Alviso, Lucio was a family healthcare worker at the Alviso clinic serving his community diligently. He met his wife Juanita in Alviso and later married her on December 29, 1975. They were married for almost 51 years! Lucio then joined the United States Navy in 1961 and traveled the world on the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk aircraft carrier to include places like Hong Kong, Philippine Islands and Japan to name a few. Lucio later would go on to serve his country honorably during the Vietnam war. Lucio wore his military uniform with pride and always had the time to share stories of his Navy adventures with family. He retired after 20 years of service on December 1rst 1981. In 1970, Lucio began the Licensed Vocational Nursing program at West Valley College where he graduated two years later. He then was hired on at Kaiser Santa Clara in 1972 and served the patient population specifically with spinal cord injuries for 22 years. His dedication to service in patient care while rarely missing any days embodied his commitment to duty in his profession in the Neuro Unit. Lucio’s hobbies included reading his Holy Books that included “My Daily Bread and “The Imitation of Christ” which solidified his Catholic Faith. He attended mass regularly at Star of the Sea Catholic church in Alviso where he was part of the community for 69 years. Lucio lived a meaningful life full of candor and inspiration. Lucio loved all his children very much and spoke of them with pride and joy. He will be missed greatly and is survived by his wife Juanita and eight children: Anthony, Gene, Cuauhtemoc, Michael, Lucio Jr, Julie, Caroline and Letecia. Lucio set in motion a legacy of faith and encouragement for all of us to follow because he led by example. He lived a life of love for family, love for the community of Alviso, love of country and above all… Love for God! May he rest in peace.
