Monica Hope Cortinas

With great sadness from her loved ones, Monica Hope Cortinas passed on January 23, 2026 surrounded by immediate family in San Jose, Ca. Monica Cortinas was born on November 27, 1971 in Santa Clara, Ca. Monica was the first daughter of seven children of Joseph Altamirano and Rita Priscilla Cruz Altamirano. Joseph Altamirano, remarried to Juanita Altamirano, who raised Monica and her siblings with Juanita’s two daughters in San Jose, Ca. In high school Monica met the love of her life, Miguel R. Cortinas Jr. Together they had three beautiful daughters of their own. Monica started her career as an office professional. Coming from a big family herself she loved all children like her very own and changed her career path to became a day care provider. All the children she took care of were family members or friends' children that then became extended family. She is survived by her husband Miguel R. Cortinas Jr, daughters Elisa and Josefina Cortinas. Monica now peacefully rests with their second daughter, Andrea Michelle. Services will be held at Chapel of Flowers, 900 S. Second St. San Jose, Ca 95112 on February 17, 2026 at 11:00am with the burial to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
